Oct ARTIST news:

Thought I’d take this op to brag just a bit for a couple of our artists:  Cathy Gendron did a launch signing at the Nicola’s Books in Ann Arbor a bit ago and it was really something special.  We’d highlighted some images from her debut picture book, The Nut Cracker Comes to America, by Chris Barton, but wanted to show two pix of the signing and talk too. WHAT a blast …wish I could have been there! Kudos Cathy!

 

AND she’s just completed a ‘summer’ project: this large mural that I had to show a bit of…more on this in an ‘interview’ with Cathy as soon as she’s recouped from the whole thing! She’ll tell us all about how, where, with whom, and more….tune in!

  

And we also interviewed our artist Christine Kornacki a bit ago here about her Master’s Program…which she’s still happily involved with till spring I think. WELL! one of the pieces she did for her thesis children’s book was chosen for the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles Illustration 54 competition!  This is huge Christine…congratulations!

Melissa Iwai has had a couple of signings lately as well, one at the Princeton Book Fair which is always a wonderful, talent filled event!  And PW just announced the two book deal she’s currently working on for Scholastic.  A busy happy time!

Several of our artists present at SCBWI events around the country…. and Priscilla Burris, who is on their board, is often involved with the Orange County and other CA (nationwide!) weekend conferences.  Recently she was part of an authors weekend as well, on top of multiple book projects! She says these packed filled weekends keep her inspired and creative! (never a problem with Priscilla!)  If you attend these, and you should, look for her (always LA and NYC as well!)

So Oct has been a wonderful month… on to Halloween!…and then some news we can hardly wait to share!  My partner and daughter Christy Ewers and family are expecting a baby BOY early Nov. – joining sister and our ‘research assistant’ Billie. So Nov News just might be full of baby pix!  Till then….            BOOOOO   !!!!
